Special Advisor to the Chairman of AREVA
Alain Bucaille, 59 years old, is a graduate of Ecole Polytechnique and Ecole des Mines. He began his career occupying several international positions including New Caledonia, Japan and Australia. He returned to France in the 1980s and participated in the examination of various tax reforms (research tax credit, business tax, IS). He was the rapporteur of the Commission’s Research & Innovation 10th Plan. He joined Lafarge in 1989 as Branch Manager and Group Director of Research and Innovation.
In 1997, he became Managing Director at Hermes where he stayed four years. He chairs the Board of the fight against counterfeiting of the Comité Colbert.
He joined AREVA in 2001 as Advisor to the Chief Executive Officer until 2005 and from late 2005 to early 2011, he occupied the position of Director of Research and Innovation Group.
Then, he acted once again as Advisor to the CEO.
He teaches prospective outlook on energy at HEC (France) and Imperial College (UK). More especially, he addresses the issue of how to meet the climate challenge at the lowest costs.
