Claude Grunitzky

President, TRUE

Born in Togo, Claude Gunitzky is a cosmopolite person. Raised in the United States and in France, then educated in London and at the MIT, he never denied his African origins. Founder of the magazine of the cultural mix, Claude Grunitzky has made Trace the urban trends indicator. He has, with two partners, launched a TV channel, Trace TV, that was financed by Goldman Sachs before being resold in 2010. He published in May 2008, Transculturalismes, a work composed with essays, stories and interviews. His group TRUE develops entrepreneurship projects in Africa and advises many corporations and transnational organizations on the transculturalism related issues. Transculturalism consists in the evidence that the means of communication and new technologies are changing the culture of the peoples.

ACHIEVEMENT / What is your project, initiative, startup, company all about?

The workshop “entrepreneurship in the emerging countries in the XXIst century” at the LHFORUM is a result of the trans-cultural projects of TRUE, fed with actions led in the field since 20 years. By giving the floor to the most innovating social entrepreneurs in Africa and South America, we want to show that, in a world where the whole market is being redefined by the new attitudes and transcultural behaviors, corporations can no longer ignore the social dimensions of their activities

IMPACT / What is the positive economic, social, political, environmental… of the activity, project, initiative, startup, company?

We wish to inspire the governments and multinationals and help them setting up sincere and effective policies, in particular by favoring a sustainable development through responsible initiatives in terms of social entrepreneurship. Thanks to the hybrid position of TRUE, at the social and cultural avant-garde, we want to decode the deep changes touching our societies. Corporations should rather become aware of these evolutions in order to understand better their clients. With our constant demand for innovation and creativity, we will bring new answers to the decision-makers who are facing new issues.
