Elaine Smith is Brazilian and 39 years old. In 2011, she shifted her career in financial markets to Instituto Geração (Generation Institute), a non-profit organization. She stepped out of corporate life after having worked for Banco Patrimonio, Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan and Morgan Stanley as an Executive Director of equity research sales and trader for institutional investors.
During the past two years, she has applied her business skills to the goals of: 1) encouraging economically privileged youth to help build a better future; 2) advocating for Impact Investing to be a new asset class in Brazil; and 3) working to develop civil society organizations that address diverse causes, including financial literacy.
Elaine has a BA in Business Administration from Mackenzie University and a MBA in Finance from the FIA University of Sao Paulo. She is in the Owner/President Management Program (OPM) at Harvard Business School (class or 2015). In 2013 Elaine was nominated as a Young Global Leaders (YGL) of the World Economic Forum.
She is a member or serveral networks, including Nexus, Rede de Transformação Pública (Network for Public Transformation), Muda Mundo (Change World), Novos Líderes (New Leaders), and RedeGeração (GenerationNet).
