ACHIEVEMENT/ What is your project, initiative, start-up, company all about?

Beyond the role of transporting people from one place to another in best conditions possible, the social responsibility of Transport Groups is to interact with local concerns of inhabitants and various stakeholders. RATP group foundation’s mission is to promote respect and mobility to territories where the Group provides services in France and abroad. We achieve our objectives through three programmes: destination mutual aid (to support local charities), tomorrow’s roads (grant of scholarship with a follow-up from volunteer RATP managers), Journey of culture (discovery of cultural excellence for people having difficulty accessing museums). These programmes are designed as a set of tools to respond the local social issues, based on a preliminary diagnosis shared with our partners.

LOCATION/ In which city, country, part of the world do you conduct your activities?

RATP group foundation operates mainly in the Ile-de-France region, historical territory of the company, but also supports projects in various French cities such as Charleville-Mézières, Boulogne sur Mer, La Roche sur Yon, and also abroad, in India (Mumbai) or South Africa (Johannesburg).

IMPACT/ What is the positive economic, social, political, environmental…of your activity, project, initiative, start-up, company?

The essence of philanthropy is to support project and favour links that are helpful to the public interest. Therefore it never plays for direct return on investment, unlike commercial activities or even sponsorship. The positive impact relies on creating social bonds between people and places, people from the inside – the foundation promotes employees’ commitment in selecting the projects we support or as volunteers – and people from the outside, in order to assert the search for a more human city as a component of the company’s DNA.

QUOTE/ A saying, quote or reference phrase that tells something about you

“Don’t count the days, Make the days count” (Muhammad Ali)
