BACKGROUND / Academic and professional background
After Sciences Po Paris and a History degree, he entered the ENA (Simone Weil Prom) and then the Ministry of culture.
Hubert Védrine became from 1981 to 1995 a member of the President François Mitterrand’s team successively as diplomatic advisor, spokesman and Secretary General of the presidence. From 1997 to 2002, he was Minister of the Foreign Affairs in Lionel Jospin’s government under Jacques Chirac presidency. In 2003, he has created a consultancy firm specialized in geopolitics ‘Hubert Védrine Conseil” and has become the Institute Mitterrand President and member of the LVMH board as independent administrator in 2004. On the 14th of November 2012, he reported back to French President François Hollande on the consequences of the French return in the integrated military command structure of NATO, on the future of the transatlantic relationship and on the perspectives for the European defense. His last work “La france au défi” on the French reform, has been published in March 2014.
ACHIEVEMENT/ What is your project, initiative, start-up, company all about?
With his experience as diplomatic advisor near the President from 1981 to 1995 and as Foreign Affairs minister in Lionel Jospin’s government, he specialized in geopolitic strategies with Hubert Védrine Conseil. He published works on Geopolitics as the “mêlée mondiale” in 2012, Fayard, or the Atlas des crises et des conflits, Colin/ Fayard 2013.
