Jean Kaspar

Consultant in Social Strategies and VP of the International Social Observatory (OSI)

BACKGROUND / Academic and professional background.

Since 1996, Jean KASPAR manages JKConsultant a company specialized in social strategies and management. He is also Vice President of the International Social Observatory, former associate Professor at the University of Marne la Vallée and teaches at the IAE Paris.

He coordinated a seminary on social Dialogue at ENA (Year Romain Gary 2003-2004).

From 1955 to1965 he worked as an apprentice then as an electro mechanic at the Alsatian Potash Mines.

Between 1966 and 1992 he held various responsibilities in the Union that led him to be appointed General Secretary of the CFDT Trade Union between 1988 and 1992.

In 1993 he was appointed Minister Counselor in charge of Social Affairs at the French Embassy in Washington.

He has been a member of the Attali Committee (2007 – 2010) on Economic Growth and chaired the Committee on Social Dialog at the French Postal Service.

He also wrote 2 Essays: “Mon Engagement”, Flammarion, Nov. 1994 , “Refondre le syndicalisme “, Gallimard, April 2001.

ACHIEVEMENT/ What is the project/initiative/startup/company you will be presenting at the Positive Economy Forum all about ?

OSI’s project is to lay the grouds for cooperation strategies between all the entities (corporations, trade unions, academics, researchers, local communities, associations) for a global approach allowing a humanistic development. OSI wants to play a key role in the positive economy.

The impact of our action is diverse, we have started different partnerships to promote inside companies a people oriented management, to allow a more constructive social dialog based on cooperation strategies between employers and unions, liberate the speech of employees to allow them to participate in their work organization.

To promote the positive economy is to travel the long road leading towards a more human and hopeful globalization. This road will be long and difficult because it challenges different ways of thinking. Our challenge must lead us to move in order to build a better world in terms of humanity and wisdom.
