Chairman, Economie d'énergie
BACKGROUNG/ Academic and professional background
After graduating from l’Ecole Supérieure de Commerce de Bordeaux in ‘89, Myriam Maestroni specialized in Finance with a Post graduate (University of Barcelona) and an MBA at ESADE (Barcelona, Spain). She also get executive education in Strategy, Sustainability and Leadership (IMD, HBS, Insead).
Throughout her career she progressed in the energy sector.
She spent 15 years in Spain, where just after her studies, at the age of 24, she became the CEO of Dyneff/Agip Spain. In 1996, she joined Primagaz (subsidiary of the Dutch SHV Group) as Managing Director for Spain, till 2002, when she was invited to take an international operational staff position in SHV Holdings, working in close cooperation with the CEO of the Group. By 2003, she was appointed as Sales and Marketing Director of Primagaz France, the most representative business unit of the Group.
In 2005, at the age of 38, she was appointed CEO of the company, and launched a global repositioning process shifting from an historical LPG supplier into a designer and provider of energy efficient global solutions. This very innovative approach was aiming to enhance customers’ portfolio and loyalty while protecting margins threatened by the risk of product commoditization. The original strategic statement was based on the idea that sustainable energy suppliers could not, any longer, just focus on supply chain, operations and safety, and should better market their product by effectively assessing their customers to make the most proper and effective use of the energy. This leading strategy became directly supported overtime by a restrictive regulation in France (starting by 2006), and currently turning into a European one. That, combined with the generalization of NTIC, led her to create within Primagaz a newco called Economie d’Energie to launch the first portal for big audience specialized in energy and energy efficiency in France (http://www.economiedenergie.fr/).
Early engaged in sustainability and leadership, Myriam Maestroni is regularly invited in conferences organized by renowned institutes of education – Euromed, l’Ecole Supérieure de Commerce de Bordeaux…, as well as in executive boards of leading groups (Auchan, Brink’s, SNCF, Disney, EDF…).
Since 2012, she is visiting professor in HEC Executive Education.
She is an independent administrator for a SBF 120 listed company Albioma (Thermal biomass electricity) since July 2011, chaired for 2 years the Nomination/remuneration Committee and is currently chairing the CSR Committee.
She published 3 books:
Intelligence émotionnelle, services et croissance (Emotional Intelligence, Services and Growth) Edition Maxima 2009 (with Luis M. Huete),
Mutations Energétiques (Energy mutations) Edition Alternatives 2010 (with Jean-Marie Chevalier, one of the most known French energy specialist) and more recently:
Get to understand the new Energy 2.0 world with Jean-Marie Chevalier and Michel Derdevet (RTE/ErDF), that led to many positive press articles.
Myriam Maestroni also writes regularly articles on energy, energy efficiency, sustainability and leadership in well-know magazines/newspapers.
She is one of the founder and Chairman of the e5T Foundation. Specialized in Energy, Energy Efficiency and Environment, this Foundation is aiming to identify and support all kind of initiatives, projects, start ups that will contribute to energy conservation and fight climate change. Summer e5T Universities are being organized annually in La Rochelle.
In 2012, she co-founded Le Cercle des Entreprises Centenaires (Over 100 years companies Circle), in partnership with ANVIE (a French organization specialized in promoting social sciences in corporation) and HEC. In April 2014, she became Vice-Chairman of ANVIE close to Antoine Frérot (Véolia), Chairman.
Myriam Maestroni is Knight of the Order of Merit since 2008, and Foreign Trade Advisor since 1998.
