Mayor of Le Havre, Deputy Seine-Maritime
BACKGROUND / Academic and professional background
Receiving part of my education abroad taught me to be open-minded ; my studies gave me the love of public service ; several years as a reservist of the French Army helped me understand the absolute need to give of my time for my country. Better than degrees, I have been formed by the people I have met such asmy teachers who gave me my interest for History and writing. Serving at the “Conseil d’Etat” (French administrative Supreme Court) taught me rigor and respect for the rule of law. I also have professional experience in the private sector as an International Counsel with an American law firm and later as Head of Public Affairs for a big company where I faced the reality of global competition and the challenges of new energies. Re-elected Mayor in March 2014 by the people of Le Havre, I also am the President of the Communauté d’agglomération of Le Havre and Member of Parliament for Seine-Maritime.
LOCATION / In which part of the world do you conduct your activities?
I am the co-founder of the LH Forum and Mayor of the city that welcomed the first editions. This city, Le Havre, entirely destroyed 70 years ago, managed to revive, to develop and to progress; this is the best illustration, to me, of what a positive society built on a positive economy should be!
