ACHIEVEMENT/ What is the project/initiative/startup/company you will be presenting at the Positive Economy Forum all about?

We will be presenting Illumine’s “Knowledge for Enablement” Initiative.

The initiative aims at helping institutions, communities, and individuals assimilate knowledge in a manner that leads not only to increase in technical and social capacities, but also an increase in the level of “human enablement” experienced by the recipient of knowledge. (An increase in enablement is felt when human beings experience higher personal fulfillment, greater self-esteem, increased appreciation of one’s own possibilities, and enhanced capacity to respond to life.

LOCATION/ In which city, country, part of the world do you conduct your activities ?

Mumbai and all over India, we have first contacts in Europe and Afrika

IMPACT/ What is the positive economic, social, political, environmental…of the activity, project, initiative, startup, company ?

Thus far, the initiative has reached out to more than 2 million people in India covering a major university, India’s largest bank, a Fortune 500 oil retailer, a major financial services group, and several hundred schools.

The KfE Initiative impacts society at three levels –

  1. KfE educational interventions have cascade effects on ‘student learning’, ‘openness to new knowledge’, ‘classroom engagement levels’, and an “I-can” attitude. This means a shift in educational outcomes from knowledge alone to knowledge + human possibilities.
  2. KfE business models and business interventions are able to address challenges related to purpose, meaning, personal fulfillment, and organizational mindsets. This leads to transformed quality of workplaces and work life.
  3. KfE development interventions can help communities build –
    (i) collective confidence, (ii) shared solutioning capacity, and (iii) capacity to co-create responses to challenges in the environment. This helps them transform from being ‘victims of circumstances’ to ‘creators of their own destiny’.
