BACKGROUND / Academic and professional background

PhD in Economics.

From 2003 to 2012, presided Lille Catholic University (27 000 students in 2015).

Since 2012, Pro-Vice-Chancellor in this University, involved in Health and Social Sciences, including hospitals (850 beds) and a medicosocial sector for elderly and handicapped people (600 beds and places).

ACHIEVEMENT / What is the project/initiative/startup/company you will be presenting at the Positive Economy Forum all about ? 

Humanicité consists in a new suburb specially dedicated to well-living together, diversity, sustainability, attention to welcoming vulnerable and fragile populations (handicapped and elderly people).

It is a living-lab managed by Lille Catholic University with the local authorities, the inhabitants and residents, the students, the professionals, the firms involved in this area of 15 ha.

Teaching, research, services to society, numerous activities are developed through this living-lab.

LOCATION / In which city, country, part of the world do you conduct your activities ?

Lille Metropolis.

IMPACT / What is the positive economic, social, political, environmental…of the activity, project, initiative, startup, company ?

The project permitted to create new activities and jobs (about 250 new jobs); new housing (900 flats; 2 100 new inhabitants); about 400 new places and beds for handicapped people (all ages and all types of handicap).

The principal aims of Humanicité living-lab are:

  • creating social innovations: being an innovative eco-system;
  • developing the well-living together through co-elaborative schemes and methods.
