General Delegate, Fondation SEFACIL
Since 2011, Dr Yann Alix has been the General Delegate of the Fondation SEFACIL which aims at setting up, leading and animating a unique international think-tank of excellence around strategic & prospective analysis on themes related to the future of Maritime Transport, Ports & Logistics. . In 2012, Dr. Yann ALIX publishes a new collection of books (Les Océanides) with its first release on Transportation Corridors and the next one gonna be on Bulks & Logistics to be completed for November 2013 (free download available at www.sefacil.com)
In the past 4 years, Prof. Alix was the Director of IPER (Port Training & Research Institute), a component of the NBS where he also headed the Logistics Dept. He is Associate Researcher for Logistel in Portugal and collaborates actively in different training & engineering projects in Africa for the Port Authority of Le Havre. After receiving his PhD from Concordia University and his Doctorate in Transport Geography from Caen University, he started a career as consultant for Maritime Innovation in Rimouski, leading applied researches and studies for the Canadian & International port authorities, shipping companies and logistics entities.
He is the author of more than 90 international conferences in 4 languages and has published several papers in academic journals as well as many professional reports
His main research issues focus on Corporate Management & Strategies in the Port & Maritime industries as well as port-city relationships and freight inland corridors/transportation chains, especially on the African & South-American continents.
